Project Life Tuesday! Prom Edition

Welcome to my post for Project Life Tuesday, you can go to The Mom Creative to see other peoples but this is my week, Enjoy! This was a huge picture week. I did find a way to include 70+ pictures into this weeks layout while only using 2 incerts.

I was playing around with my timer to see if I could get into the pictures this week, so while I was working on putting together my Project Life I captured this shot.I also didn't realize that I would be taking a ton of pictures with kids the next weekend!




It was kind of a rainy week so I took a shot of the window. And these are two of my students that always happy, so it is really hard to have a bad day when they were around.

We got to have my niece this weekend and I bought a new printer.

Dad found about 2 lbs of Morel mushrooms in the great north!

 So I crashed prom and had a great time. I was listening to the kid and I think I had a better time then they did. But here are all of my favorite pictures. Oh and I danced my heart out!!!

I did make copies of all of the students so they can have a copy as well!

Project Life April

Welcome back to Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust. One of the things I look forward to the most during the week is when everyone links up at The Mom Creative for Project Life Tuesday! This was a big week for me with Resurrection Sunday and my cousin's bridal shower. So with out any further hesitation....

We went to my sister's house for Easter dinner. She made ham with all of the fixings. I also started training for a 5K and that was the last day I ran due to shin splints. We had some snow show up and but it is gone.

 I took a Design A and cut it in half to add some more pictures from the Bridal Shower. One of the funnest things that happened was while the Bride was reading one of the wonderful cards she got from a guest about "Have a wonderful shower, your the bride..." The Bride's daughter announces for all to hear "You really do take a shower with my dad!" I thought my cousin was going to die from embarrassment!

My Dad went mushroom hunting and all he found was ticks!

I did find a Sonic and had 2 Cherry Lime-aids. I didn't get on the scale this morning a little worried!

 My dad really struggled with the idea of US dollars. He asked if his Speedway gift card that he usually put money on in Michigan would work in Indiana. I told him that 1 Indiana  dollar is worth 15 Michigan dollar, because the economy is so bad in Michigan.

Project Life: April 1st thru April 7th

Welcome back to my blog. I have really enjoyed this journey with Project Life through The Mom Creative and really enjoy looking at your pictures as well. This is a much smaller week then last week. I also have a feeling that April 8th thru the 14th will be big as well. I'm still trying to figure out how to take pictures of my Project Life without a huge glare in the middle of the plastics.

 Since I enjoy reading all of the journaling I thought that it was only fair to give you a close up of my journaling.

 I did want to keep one picture and journal card private so I put some sticky notes on top of them!

Project Life 2012

I love looking at everyone's Project Life and a lot of my Facebook friends ask what the project is so instead of sending everyone to someone else's blog I decided to show off  Last weeks and I will be posting it at Jessica Turner's Project Life Tuesday. So if you want to see more then just mine head on over there every Tuesday watch the links fill up.

To give a little back ground information on this week, my niece decided that she wanted to spend her spring break with my mom, dad and myself. It was kind of a last minute thing so I decided to dedicate the entire week's layout to her. I interviewed her and used a lot of her pictures from her camera. 

 

In the picture above you can see a picture of her fort, a chair full of her stuff, we had lunch at the Big Boy, Papa giving up his big boy bed so that Peanut could sleep with my mom, and a shot of Peanut riding her bike and you can see Papa's arm in the back ground.

I added a couple of inserts. I used a 6x12 plastic and cut a 12x12 sheet of card stock in half to print a bunch of questions I could interview her with. I took the one of the free printable from Becky Higgins and customized the Teen Life Story to what I wanted. I did ask some other questions but over all I used what had already been written.

 Here is another insert. I used Design F and cut off a row. You can see a lot of Peanut's pictures. Some are from me, but she went wild with her camera.

 I did have my mom and dad do a little bit of the journaling. They wrote notes to Peanut and I pretty much summed up the week.









From this week I learned that $50 is well spent to give an 8 year old a camera. While I have a ton of shots of nothing, I do have some really great shots that I never would have gotten because I wouldn't have handed over my camera.

Overcome January Prompt

My word for 2012 is OVERCOME. At first I didn't want that word but I really felt like this class was something that I needed to do and “overcome” was the only word that was right there. To be honest didn't sound like a "fun" word and if I had to be really honest with myself it sounded like a lot of hard work. Now only after 2 short months, I can see how much I needed to work on this word for the year.

In January I wanted to invite self-control, God given security and to love my own hand writing. I mainly choose to invite things that I wanted to work on in 2012 (Read “New Year’s Resolutions”).

By the end of February, I still hadn’t finished the prompt but knew that I needed to start Project Life again. I really enjoyed doing it when I did it 2010, but got overwhelmed so I just stopped. But I do enjoy looking at everyone else’s and I can tell you why I had to start it in March.  So I could make it my own and add all of the extra stuff that I save in a pile on my desk and then I find it later and wonder why on Earth I saved it.

I will finish the February prompt pretty shortly and get pictures up for people to look at. I like that I have that from of accountability but I’m still working on it. I also have a research paper and several other papers to write. I’m just not sure how to use the calendar but I will figure it out!

The  five journaling cards!

Less than one week until 2012

With less than one week to 2012, there are several things that I am working on to start the New Year. You can call them Resolutions but rarely does anyone keep them, so here are my goals for 2012. 

*First Goal for 2012 (kinda) is I am considering doing the “OneLittle Word” journaling class.

At this point I have chosen a word to focus on for the year and that word is OVERCOME. I have chosen that word because of the mini conference our women's ministry put on in the beginning of December.  The woman that was teaching it had us tell each other “Greater is he that is in you than the one that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) I have been completely captivated by that verse since the conference. Right now I can go either way while signing up. I can talk myself out of it just as quick as I can talk myself into it, chances are pretty good I’m going to do the class, I am feeling a stir in my heart to sign up for it.

*Second goal for 2012 is to learn to love my own handwriting. I know that it seems really weird but I don’t really like to look at my handwriting after I first write something, but if I go back to it I have no problem with my handwriting.

*Third Goal for 2012 is to love Jesus more at the end of the year then I did at the beginning of the year.

*Fourth Goal for 2012: BLOG MORE!

I need to finish the cover for my 2012 journal. Pretty simple I think for the year. Maybe next year I will have a post and assess all that I tried to accomplish chances are good I won’t.

Planning Ahead

I think that God is really leading me into a season of my life that is very much a dichotomy. On one side God is asking me to surrender and wait for his timing and on the other side he is asking me to be plan some of the little projects a little bit better and not always wait to the last minute to get things done.

So let me explain a little bit about what I mean. Because of my lack of planning last year, I remembered on December 5^th that I wanted to do a project called DecemberDaily. December Daily is a scrapbooking album project that documents the 25 days leading up to Christmas pretty similar to Project Life. After I noticed the little detail I overlooked and found out that she starts to plan her album in October. Which is a much different than I decided to start my album last year. 

In case you checked out the website. I will not be doing anything near the ornateness that Ali Edwards is doing. I know what I can handle and the ocd-prefectionism that I possess when it comes to scrapbooking. They spell check things for you and make you check and double check things. Right now I’m planning on using Shutterfly to make a photobook. They are always having deals on their products and then I can print multiple copies to send to my Nana and my brother.

Ali did say the secret to the success of December Daily is having a base album done so all I have to do is put pictures and the journaling and move on. I have started the album on the website so it will be very easy to just upload pictures and place them.

I also started to get the Advent season in order and look to see if there were any new family devotions that would be fun for us to do. Last year we did A Family Advent: Keeping the Savior in the Season and it was really a great devotional. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a kid-friendly Advent devotion. They went through and put some added information like the “Fun Facts.” We did our reading at the dinner table at night; it seemed to work for us. It would be awesome to hear what you are using!

Since Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I have the spiritual gift of 3-ring bindersI thought I would share one of my favorite websites. A couple of years, I found a website called OrganizedChristmas. The entire website is dedicated to cutting the stress at Christmas time by making a 3-ring binder planner with hundreds of FREE printables that help you get organized. There are several different “plans” depending on how much you want to do. 

I would absolutely encourage anyone to read the article Before The Season: Focus On Holiday Values and work through the Family Values Worksheet. Because knowing where your true values lie allows you to set a path to true holiday happiness, and to avoid the minefields that our culture and commercialism will throw in your way.

Stuff

Not much has happened since the last time I wrote, but there are things that I didn’t say the last time. One of the biggest things that is happening in the Warnock household right now is we are preparing for my baby brother’s deployment.

I don’t know much about it and I’ve kept it that way. I mean I want to know everything about where he is going to be and what he is going to be doing so that I know how to pray for him. But knowing that information might put him at risk and I really don’t want that. Another reason I don’t want to know anything is that is there is news of something happening and it’s in the part I think he is located I will drive myself crazy with worry.  So I will do my part and just pray for him and let Jesus take care of the rest. That is all I can do.

Long time, no write!

I miss blogging.

I know I love reading a lot of other people’s blogs. I think that it’s because it is a window into someone else’s life and I really like to watch other people. I think that is another reason I love Reality TV so much. 

Speaking of Reality TV, I really love the show TLC show Sister Wives, and the new season comes on this Sunday. I am fascinated by the sister wives relationship, I want to know how it works. The entire concept boggles my mind. I know that it’s part of their belief system that it makes them better people because they are removing the jealously from their lives, but I feel that the particular form of jealously is normal. But for now I will just watch the show.

Right now I’m reading the book “Sun Stand Still.” I love the book. I would totally recommend this book to everyone. But then I’m not sure that everyone will have the same reaction to it that I am. I’m sure that they can but I know that people got something out of the “The Purpose Driven Life” and I didn’t. And it I don’t want to diminish the experience they had with The Purpose Driven Life but I didn’t have it.  

I would totally like to read “The Help” next. I watched the movie and it was an excellent movie. Hokey Smokes! I would totally recommend that someone go and watch it. A little bit of foul language but the message was really good.

Oh and I've given up on Internet Explore. I know, I know I'm a little late and I'm not thrilled with Firefox but it doesn't crash every time I open a website.

So I’m not making any promises about keeping up on this but I will try.
