I never get tired of Caty telling me “I don’t know why I have to go to sleep, I’m not even tired.” And then she falls into a deep slumber 5 minutes after we say prayer and I tuck her in. Then the next morning she is a grumpy pants and has a hard time getting out of bed. This picture was taken at 9:45pm.

Got a new water bottle today. I tried those metal ones and I hated them. I hated the way the water tasted. So I got a new Nalegen bottle. I love it.

I was a librarian and had a chance to get caught up on my journaling cards. You see the last time I journaled was January 5th. I know. I know, I know. But when I had so many of my page protectors not scored I just stopped doing. it. I did get up to February 16th. Progress.

Today was “senior skip day” and my dad teaches senior English. After lunch we go to 5th hour. Dad has senior English 6th hour. So I was getting my 5th hour going on a worksheet and noticed Dad’s class in the hallway. A little worried, I pull them all into my room and make a call to the office. “Is everything ok with my dad?”The woman in the office says “Yes, I think so. Why?” Which I respond with “Well I have his class in my room and if I had to put money on it he thinks it 6th hour with his seniors.” 10 minutes later he shows up to poke fun at me that he has seniors and I have freshman. I tell him that I have his class in my room because it is 5th hour he tells me to shut up because it is 6th hour and he as marked all of his seniors absent. I tell him it is 5th hour and I have his class in my room. So we all had a really good laugh over this one.

Went to the Beth Moore event “So Long Insecurities… You have been a bad Friend to us” with some friends of mine. I just love these girls. I have a really good time and wouldn’t have wanted to go with anyone else.

Another Quarterly Business Meeting- It was dessert night and my mom brought a carrot raisin Bunt cake. When Caty found out her in her very concerned voices says. “Well I hope no one get diarrhea.” Mom and I laughed and laughed.

Went to the Fredrick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. I took a lot of really good photos but this is the one that really made me stop and look. The artist that made the glass orbs is Dale Chihuly. Some of his other pieces in the Butterfly exhibit where stunning as well. I will post some of them as well. On the up side I also got a new memory stick for my camera. I’m not really sure if the new memory stick helped take amazing photos.

I go to Bible Study on Tuesday Nights and Caty just loves going with me. As a matter of fact she gets so wound up that we have a hard time going to bed and then she is a grumpy pants the next day getting up.

This is what happens when you leave a 6 year old in the bathtub and ask her to “wash her hair.” She didn’t get it when I made reference to “Flock of Seagulls.”

Done with all of my homework for all of my classes for the semester! I have a love/hate relationship with this time of the semester. I love that it is over but what am I getting into for next semester. I only have two more semesters left. Then I will be a special education teacher.

This is what happens when you don’t take your make up off like you should. My mom walks in and says, “Oh, I see that you hopped into the shower to take off your makeup.”

I went to prom and took pictures with a lot of my Kids. Since I couldn’t pick just one I thought I would make a collage. I’m about to get all of the pictures printed so I can pass them out in school on Thursday.

This is one of the professors I have had over my two year stint at Ferris State University. She is has seen a lot and has a ton of good information. I think at the end of my teaching career I would like to be like her. On more than one occasion she has taken a panicked phone call from me trying to figure out what to do.

I sent this email out for one of my students and sobbed.

Hello Prayer Task Force and Prayer Warriors.

I need to call on you for something huge. One of my students just found out she has cancer. Her name is Caitlin and she is 15 years old. Through a series of God sized events doctors found a 5 cm tumor in her brain. On March 12, a car ran a stop sign and the bus she was ridding in hit the car so hard that both the car and the bus ended up in a ditch. Nobody was injured and the bus driver was commended for keeping the bus upright on a really steep ditch. She did hit her head and started forgetting things and dropping things so mom and dad got her in for an MRI just to make sure that everything was ok. The Doctor looked at the scan and told the family that she needed to be at DeVos Children’s Hospital right away. The tumor was not caused by the bus accident, but the original scan said it was 5cm. That is about 2 inches just to put it in perspective for everyone. On March 19 the doctors went into her brain and took out most of the tumor. They couldn’t get all of it because of where it was located but they sent what they could in to get tested to see if it was cancer. The first test was inconclusive so doctors ran more tests. She came home from the hospital yesterday (March 30) and today she got the news that the tumor is cancerous. She will have another MRI in three weeks so doctors can decide on a plan of action. I don’t even know how to pray for this situation. Jesus has met us at every turn. Doctors went in and cut her brain and she is getting her speech, expression, movement on her right side back and soon she will walk on her own.

So if you say one little pray for her that would be great. I have attached a picture so you can put a face with a name. Thanks, Bev

We have found something else fun to do with the squirrels out side. Stand out on the back porch shake the peanuts, so the squirrels know what you are tossing out then start throwing them to the nearest animal. You should see how fast they scurry.

In the process of cleaning I decided to get rid of some of my trophies from high school. So I took their picture and am sending them to the Goodwill. I just pray I don’t buy them back.

I come home from school and get on to Facebook. I scroll down and something catches my eye. So-and-so became a fan of Mr. Warnock. So I go and check it out. My dad made it big time with his own facebook page. Currently he has 437 fans. And the stories on there are really funny. Kids have been posting their favorite story about him. Luckily I have been made an administrator and have some control over what is posted. I promised I wouldn’t ruin the fun, but the students and former students have been really good.

Prayers have been answered and we got a miracle. Janet my friend got her five organ transplant and is now recovering. The last I heard she is doing great and she was officially closed up Monday. So I’m assuming everything is going really well. Now we are praying for a good recovery. PTL!!!!

I finished reading my text book for the semester and answering all of the questions at the end of the book. I don’t know how many time I had to call someone to make sure my thinking was correct. Working with kids that emotionally and behaviorally impaired will be the toughest job I will every love. I’m praying for my heart already.

This past weekend my mom found a quilt top I have been looking for the last couple of years and I put together my dad’s Christmas present. It is still in the living room it has not made its way down to his radio shack yet. But it is put together. And that is half the battle.

A friend called me up and said she was board. So we decided to take a trip to Grand Rapids and go the Van Andel Public Museum, I had never been so I jumped that the opportunity. Of course, I forgot my camera on the charger, so I had to stop at the local target and get one of those cheapies at the Target. I got some neat shots. The world map is one of my all time favorite pictures. The museum had a copy of it. From space this is what the light pollution of the world looks like. You can visit the picture at NASA.gov or get the picture here and get a much clearer view of it.

I’m still working out and today we decided to go for a walk instead of doing the DVDs. One mile there and one mile back. Well the one mile back was all up hill. So I took a picture of the sign I kept looking at and thinking I can make it there, and I did.

Caty and I doing prep for Easter. Pupcakes made and Eggs colored. We also had to have Mr. Rooter come on today and on Sunday. Fun times! We do call them “pup cakes” because when Caty was little she called them that and it just stuck.

Resurrection Sunday!

Monday, April 5, 2010

I found out that someone I hang out with in Flint during the summer mission trip is taking a trip to Cambodia and needs some supplies. Well from several of my trips to the cheap store I have some of those supplies that she needs. So, I rounded them up and put them in 2-one gallon Zip-lock bags.
