Connecting people with Jesus

Tonight was the 2009 year in review for FBC. It is fun to read the 40+ page document of all the happenings that went on at FBC. All in the name of Jesus!

Pastor Dave said something pretty interesting…

I couldn’t agree more! Literally, everyday as the leadership of First Baptist of Cadillac, we’re looking for what God wants us to do regarding the advancement of His kingdom and the building up of the Body of Christ. When I look back on any year, my thoughts don’t go to programs, budgets special events, or attendance. And I’m not downgrading the role of any part of those things. But what I want to dwell on is the changed lives that were affected by the gospel through our work and witness as a congregation! For that information , we need to hear the voices of numerous folk. And believe me, they’re out there.

But the question we continue to ask as leader is: what must we do to help every follower of Christ within this church family take the next step in Loving God, loving people and serving the world. There are involve deeper devotional commitment through:

• Prayer

• Corporate Worship

• Daily connectivity to God’s Word

• Intentional community

• Discovery, development and deployment of one’s spiritual gift(s) and

• Making Jesus Christ known in the world through service, witness, and the generous giving of resources.

Our goal is to offer opportunities and tools for personal growth in Christ. On the other end, your goal [should be] to take advantage of those opportunities. None of us can take all on but what would your “Year-End Report” say regarding your advancement toward Christ-likeness?

I just thought that kind of fit with the theme of my year. One of the other things I like about the yearend report is all the different fonts that people use. I think it kind of says something about their personalities by how they set up their report and the font that they use.

I'm getting there

Kelly and I finished the entire 30 minute workout for the kettlebells. It only took us 2 weeks of working out on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I still an unable to do all of the fancy moves but I kept moving.

The Moon

As I was coming home from Kelly’s house I thought that the moon had a nice look to it. Just very calming site on a very crisp night.

I found them!

Today I found an old journal, from about 2000. That is one thing I find very interesting is reading the thoughts that I took the time to right down. Sometimes I wish that I have done more of is journaling. That is another reason I think this project is so important. I have kept everything I have written for this project and I’m already at 18 pages typed. Some of my posts are longer than others but overall I think that I have kept a pretty good record of just the everyday things.

My mom is going to kill me for this post!

My sister made bread for the first time 3 days ago and I finally got around to making it. She didn’t do it because she thought that the bread dough would never go bad, so when she got to it she got to it. I did have to work my magic on the loaves due to the fact that they were drying out and they weren’t rising. So I placed both loaves in the oven at 200 degrees with a wet towel over them and brought them back to life.

I baked them up and had them ready for dinner. Because nothing goes better with Chicken and Dumplings then homemade bread, I served up the dumplings and mom sliced up the bread, we all sat down for dinner and we took a bite of the bread and it was too salty. Nobody could eat it. My sister doesn’t know what happen but I think that she mixed up the teaspoon and tablespoon. So before dad got home I loaded the bread up into bags and put it in the car. Then I went to Kelly’s house so that she could feed it to her goat.

This is a picture of my friend Barb. Man she is one heck of a pray warrior. I know that we can all be that but this is her spiritual gift. I just thought I would honor her tonight with a picture.

This is a picture of me sitting in class trying to get work done, which I did but if you notice I was also on facebook. I know, I have class on Saturdays and Sundays. This semester I have them for the next two weekends. So if anyone is keeping track, that means I will have them three weekends in a row. I think I am going need a lot of pray for endurance.

I took a picture of the clock as I got into bed. After a long weekend of classes and subbing this was the time that I went to bed. This is one of the main downfalls to having weekend classes. I come home exhausted. Sometimes I really thank God that I don’t have a “family” to take care of, that I really just have myself to worry about. I mean I have Caty, but there are 3 other adults that can help so the soul reasonability doesn’t fall on to me.

After a long weekend, I had to sub on a Monday morning, as I was getting into the shower I said a little prayer. “You know I wouldn’t mind a 2 hour delay. I mean I really appreciate the sub job and will go in with a good attitude but a 2 hour delay would be nice.” Well that is what I got. I went back to be for an hour and a half, then got up went in to sub for the school day and extended learning opportunities (ie. Detention), went to work out, came home made dinner, watched The Big Bang Theory, Then went to bed. Overall, a pretty good day.

Go Dawgs, Go!!

The only team my dad will ever support is the Mesick Bulldogs. He is not into any sports team other than his DAWGS. It doesn’t matter what sport they are playing if there is a home game he is there with his orange and black yelling at the dawgs to “Get on them. Don’t let them shoot!” until he has lost his voice. Tonight, dad and I went to one of the varsity basketball games at Mesick. I thought that today’s picture might try and capture the intensity of just how much he loves his dawgs. I know he looks angry, he is just really into the game! Win or lose both the girls and the boys played one heck of a game.

Dobby found a place to sleep!

Update: I was able to get the picture to load.

Since Oreo died, my little Dobby has been very scared to do anything. Most nights my mom and dad have to sleep with their bedroom door open so that he can sleep near them. Tonight we found him sleeping in a pile of dirty laundry. To be completely honest, Dobby has come alive and become a completely different dog since Oreo’s death. He is more loving, moves a lot quicker, and he comes when he is called more than he did before.

Big Time Accomplishments!!!!

I'm not posting my picture today due to it being one of my students and I don't know the laws that go alone with that. but I will tell you about her.

Today I took a picture of Mindy, on Friday she will accomplish something in her life that no one else in her family ever has. She will be a high school graduate! Mindy I’m so proud of you!
